Easy Mittens
This is a make it yourself pattern, we do not knit mittens for sale.
Sizes: Children's 24, 68, 1012, Women's, Men's
Yarn: One skein (3.5oz minimum) American sized 4 ply yarn. (Slightly larger than
D.K.)
Gauge: 5 stitches and 6 rows = 1" To use another gauge
convert with Jims Knitting Companion.

| Knit Thumb Gusset |
| Increase one stitch at the beginning of each of
the next 12 rows. |
Remove first __ stitches onto waste yarn and
remove last __ stitches on a separate waste yarn.
(I just thread a scrap piece of yarn through the live stitches.) |

| Knit remaining ____ stitches as normal. |

Knit __ rows. (This is the length of mitten, and you can add or decrease
rows as needed.)
Stripes and Fairisle or other designs look really nice in this area. |

| Decrease for top of mitten, by moving every
other stitch to neighboring stitch. You should have approximately 1/2 the
stitches after doubling up. Knit 2 rows. |
| Reset row counter to 000. |
| Cut yarn, leaving enough yarn to finish mitten
top and sew side seam. To finish mitten top, thread yarn through stitches
and draw tight. Sew side seam. |
| Knit Thumb |
| Pick up ____ stitches from waste yarn plus 2 stitches at
seam, wrong side facing. |

| Decrease for thumb top. Double put every other
needle into holding position. Knit one row. Cut end, leaving enough yarn
